Cerberus Network Review | January 24, 2014
Xbox, Windows, PlayStation

Cerberus Network is the last piece of DLC designed for Mass Effect 2 that takes place before you take on the final mission going after the Collectors. The DLC was part of EA’s terrible online program. Early on there was a lot of confusion about the online pass program. Many people did not know if they bought some DLC for Mass Effect 2 would they then need to create an EA account to access some of the additional content (some free, some not). In many cases the answer was no but the program was so unpopular that EA got rid of it all together and starting giving the content away for free. Cerberus Network was free anyway for anyone who bought Mass Effect 2 new in some cases but it was up to $15 for people who got the game used.

There is some good stuff here. You get your final member of your team Zaeed a mercenary for higher and all he cares about is revenge and money. He is an OK member but it is free so it is hard to complain. You also get to find the crash site of the original Normandy and salvage what you can. There is some more missions included call the Firewalker Pack. You get to use the M-44 Hammerhead hover tank again as seven new locations are unlocked and there is a total of five mission as Cerberus as asked Sheppard to find out what happened to a survey ship that leads him on a chase involving the Geth. Several new armors and some new weapons are also included.  The new content adds about 2 hours to 3 hours of new gameplay and that is not including stuff that will be part of Mass Effect 3 because of changes made in the story.

We were so happy to see EA’s online pass program go away but we did wish there was more to do when it we were investigating the Normandy crash. It is hard to review something that is free. When Cerberus Network was $15 for anyone who bought a used copy of Mass Effect 2 and then you had to create an EA account also, this DLC would have scored low but it is free and you don’t have to have anything but own a Xbox 360, PC or a PS3. It is worth your time, download Cerberus Network because one more time, it is free!
