Final Fight Double Impact Review | April 7, 2013
Xbox 360, Xbox Arcade, PlayStation Network

Surprisingly Final Fight is still as much fun as it was during the Super Nintendo Sega Genesis days and it does not matter how many times we beat the entire game we still want to do it all over again. This 2D action beat'em up has stood the test of time and when you add in another side scrolling 2D game to go along for good measure and you have two classic games worth downloading and playing over and over even if you weren't even alive when they came out.

Final Fight come out in 1989 on arcades and them made its way to home console version in the early 1990's. The thing we love the most is the Totally 80’s flashback storyline. Mike Haggar a former professional wrestler and Metro Cities newly elected mayor suddenly finds out that his daughter, who looks like every blond woman dancing in a Poison video, has been taken by the Mad Gear gang. Mayor Haggar has no choice but to take matters into his own hands rescue his daughter and take back the streets of Metro City. With the help of Cody his daughter’s boyfriend, who happens to be a martial arts expert and his best friend Guy who is also surprising a martial arts expert set out to take on the Mad Gear Gang. Just based on that storyline and plot the game it is worth it.

There is also a second game called Magic Sword. This game is a side scrolling action adventure with swords and magic. There is over 50 levels to play and each one only takes about two or three minutes to fight your way through but it is fun and easy to do and looks surprisingly sharp in HD. We liked that these two games look exactly the same as they always have even with graphic upgrade. They did a smart thing in letting you save at any time anywhere in both games. A feature that all classic arcade style game should have but most don’t. It is worth the price of $10 to get both of these games. You will not be disappointed but if you want to wait, it does go on sale for even less.
