PlayStation Exclusive Title

Kratos is at the service of the Gods. God of War Chains of Olympus takes place before the first God of War game. Kratos is still looking for a way to rid himself of the nightmares and torment of his family dying. This HD port from the PSP to the PlayStation 3 is what fans wanted and the gameplay plus the storyline does not disappoint. Now that Kratos has broken his blood oath to Ares the God of War he only wishes to have his memories of his murdered wife and daughter removed from his mind. The gods promise him to get rid of his memories only after swears to help them. So when the sun suddenly disappears from the sky because something has happen to Helios causing his Sun Chariot to crash to earth Kratos is sent to find out what could be strong enough to take down a god.

For it being a port from another system it looks outstanding and once again the controls and the camera are perfect in every way. Combat has a nice balance between being challenging and engaging with control combinations that are easy to remember and fun to experiment with.  There are a lot of different puzzles here to. They did not just redo the same thing from the other God of War games or just do the same new puzzle over and over again. They are challenging and thought provoking. Plus there is the Challenge of Hades maps that are of course fun and frustrating at the same time. This game has one of the best stories to play through in the God of War series. It is wonder to see a game series that does not take short cuts when it comes to good writing, storylines and voice acting. The narrations fills in any missing plot points and does not give away what is about to happen, you have to keep playing the game to find out. We look forward to what else they have in store for us in future games.

Unfortunately Chains of Olympus has one very fatal flaw, you can beat the entire game in under 5 hours. Yes we know that is not a good thing. We also know that there are some differences in the technology of how much they could have put on a PSP game disk when it was being developed but 5 hours is a tough sell. At $14.99 is an OK price because of the replay value and you will replay this game over and over. If you are buying God of War Chains of Olympus we would recommend that you buy the God of War Origins Collection instead for the $20.00 price because you get both Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. Both games were originally on the PSP and for only an extra five dollars you get to experience both of them together. The games are almost always cheaper for PlayStation Plus member and sales do happen, find it under $10.00 is a MUST BUY PRICE!
