LEGO Batman Review | January 2, 2013
Xbox, Windows, iOS, PlayStation, Nintendo

LEGO Batman is a 2D platformer mostly with some top down driving gameplay elements. The first time we used the grappling hook in LEGO Star Wars our minds went right to Batman and BOOM here it is. First of all not only do you get to play as Batman and Robin with all of the different Bat Suits but you get to play as the villain’s. We love this feature and it works all through the game. The Joker, Clayface, Mr Freeze, Bane and and several other of Batman most well-known villains worked together to escape Arkham Asylum and now plan on taking their revenge on the people of Gotham City and Batman and Robin.

If you play through the a storyline with Batman and Robin and then play the villain part of the story you will notice it is mostly new stuff, new cut screens and new places to go and things to unlock. This gives you a lot of gameplay to go through in story mode and you want to keep playing as the bad guys as much as the good guys. We did think that the villain’s story mode was funnier and you get several more characters to use. In the good guys story you just play as Batman and Robin but you get to use several different Batsuits.

LEGO Batman as with all of these LEGO games are more fun when more than one person is playing. If you listen to the music it seems to come from the Batman animated series and some music from the two movies that Tim Burton did in the mid to early 90’s. It gives it that Batman feel you remember. There is some much game here, we love the unlockables stuff that tells some of the history of Batman and his foes plus the levels with the vehicles are fun and not tiresome like some other parts of LEGO games. This has become one of our favorite LEGO games out of them all so far. LEGO Batman took us about 12 hours to play through the first time. There are extra stuff to unlock that you will enjoy doing adding also. Replay value is high because of the fun factor so spending $40 or less is a good price point for this game.
