Update August 7, 2015 Mega Man Legacy Release Dates
Mega Man Legacy Collection will be released in digital form for the Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC on August 25, 2015 for $14.99. A digital copy of the game will be available for the Nintendo 3DS in early 2016 for the same $14.99 price tag. A physical copy of the game will be release for the Xbox One, PS4, Windows PC and the 3DS sometime in early 2016 but for $30. Gamers have said that they still want physical copies of games but we don’t know how to fell about paying twice as much even if there is bonus content but Capcom has made no mention if there will be extra stuff for paying double the price.
We also know why there is no Mega Man 7 & 8 in the collection. Capcom wants to preserve and promote the 8 bit titles that started it all. Mega Man 1 through 6 were originally released between 1987 and 1993 for the 8 bit Nintendo Entertainment System or the Famicom in Japan. Mega Man 7 was a 16 bit title on the Super Nintendo and Mega Man 8 was a 32 bit game for the Sega Saturn and PlayStation.
Mega Man Legacy Collection Announcement June 8, 2015
From 1987 to 1993 there were 6 Mega Man (also known as Rocket Man in Japan) games released. This covers the original storyline and not the Mega Man X series. Now all six games are about to be released in HD for Xbox One, Windows and PS4. No release date was given yet but the trailer does show that there will be challenge modes, leaderboards and replay features. No information if the game will get a Xbox 360, PS3 or Nintendo Wii U release.
