Square Enix CEO Phil Rogers reviled that the Tomb Raider reboot in 2013 was the first game in a trilogy. Many gamers were surprised that Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced so soon after Tomb Raider had been released. He also spoke about some of the backlash Square Enix had received over Rise of the Tomb Raider being a timed Xbox One exclusive title.
"We believe first and foremost this is the right thing to do with Tomb Raider right now," Rogers responded. "What it's done for the sake of the studio and the next beat with the Tomb Raider trilogy... But the backlash is--we've watched carefully and we believe it's the right thing to do."
Clearly a third game featuring Lara Croft will be coming but we are assuming that it will not be any type of timed exclusive of any kind.

So, after the huge backlash from gamers about the latest Tomb Raider being a Xbox exclusive it was announced today that it will at some point in time you will be able to get the game on PC and PlayStation systems. In a statement from Phil Spencer he said:
"Obviously the deal does have a duration. I didn't buy the IP in perpetuity." -- Phil Spencer
He did not state how long it will be an Xbox exclusive. This is some good news for PlayStation and PC gamers but we need to look at the history of Xbox titles. Gamers had to wait almost two years before they could play MineCraft on their PS3 and other Sony systems and there is still no Dead Rising 3 either. Plus nobody knows what is happening with Titanfall. If you want to play Rise of the Tomb Raider and you are not a Xbox owner or fan you might be waiting for longer than you want and it will not be able to buy it until after holiday 2015.
