Most of us know what kind of game we are getting. We know what a MMO game is, a 3rd person action game and a puzzle game…ect. Now with all of that being said Tokyo Jungle is promoted as a Urban Based Animal Survival Action Game. If you say you have heard of a game called that you are not telling the truth. Something has happen in Tokyo because all of the people are gone. There are only house pets, animals from zoo's and wild animals walking around the streets. As you unlock story mode chapters you start to find out what happen to the human race and why they are all gone.

We are always willing to give a unique game a chance. There are times where you can’t put the hours into a RPG and you are waiting for a good 1st person shooter to come out so a game that is easy to pick up with a simple concept is welcomed. Tokyo has no humans anymore so you play as animals. You only get two to start, a carnivore and an herbivore, one eats meat one eats plants if you failed biology. You go out and hunt or look for food then your find a mate and create the next generation to do the same thing. There are other objectives, mostly defeat other animals and take over their territory and find information on what happen to the human race. In order to get through the story mode you need to complete certain objectives in the survival mode. We did like the story mode better than the survival mode mainly because you get to do different things and the objectives are set up better. There are over 50 different animals to choose from. Most come with the game and some are available for purchase on PlayStation Network. This gives you a lot of hours of gameplay. How much well it depends, you could just explore around and just see how long you could last or you can go from objective to objective and move forward, we did a little of both. We play as the Beagle for almost five hours before we died just exploring. Remember there are over 50 animals to choose from.

Most of the game is pretty good but the biggest complaint is that the game is really repetitive. It does not matter if you are a dog or a bear in both situations you are doing the same thing. Hunt other animals for food, take over a territory and then find a mate. Plus the levels you play through are all the same, if a bridge is broken as one animal than it is broken for all the animals. The game did kind of lose us but that was after we had already put 25 to 30 hours in. We also liked playing as a hunting animal like the wolf or dog more than a forging animal. Being hunted all the time is not as much fun as being the hunter. Tokyo Jungle is different than most other games. We did like unlocking the story mode and finding clues to who happen to the human race but we wish the story mode was longer. We had no issues with controls or camera but we wished they could have changed up the gameplay a little bit. For $15.00 you are getting a lot of stuff to do so the price is not too much. Even after we stopped playing we did come back and pick a different animal and try to see you long we could last without being killed so there is some replay here. Good price, pretty good game and it is different than most other gaming experiences.
