Wild Arms is a random battle RPG that is in the same style as Final Fantasy VII, Suikoden and The Legend of Dragoon. There are three main characters that the story is centered around. Wild Arms is also a western themed RPG and there were not very many games that used this period in history as a games story plot point in 1996 when this game came out for PS1. The world of Filgaia has forgotten about what caused a great war. The war was so long ago people are not sure who it was against. Now some of the problems that were around before the war started that never got resolved are starting to resurface.  A great evil force is trying to resurrect their leader and tear the world down. The three people in your group are called Dream Chasers. Jack a treasure hunter and master swordsmen who joins the quest for riches and adventure. Cecilia a young mage who has spent most of her life studding magic at the Abbey. Finally, Rudy an orphan who has a something called an ARM attached to him. ARM is a weapon left over from the war that is considered to be forbidden causing him to become an outsider.

Wild Arms story in a perfect mix of Wild West, pirates ships, magic and technology. The game has the same fell like Final Fantasy VII, it has 2D and 3D fighting to the overall look. Having only three people in your group helps. With so many RPGs having several playable characters to choose from, being able to just focus and the story development of three is refreshing and makes you root for them a little more. Sometimes you even get separated and you only have one group member to use as you try to reunite with the other two and that even works too. This is the type of game that you have to spend some time leveling up because it is challenging and you will have boss battles that you will have no chance unless you are stronger.  There are lots of extras like finding super bosses to fight if you want to and you get different special tools and power ups for all three people in you party. This allows you to backtrack and get into areas that you could not before. Even little things like the music and smaller story elements are appealing and gives stuff you want to do.

We put in about 50 hours in to beat the game the first time through. If you add in the extra stuff you could get in the 70 plus hour mark finding and figuring out everything. Problems are small like there is not voice talent but this is a technology issue and negative stats like poison and blindness happen way too often.  Also, you are sent on a quest and have no idea where to go, what to do or who to talk too. This is a bit of a problem and it is made even worst because you can't save on the world map you have to find save points. These are all minor problems and does not hurt the overall game experience. Replay is jut OK at best. You go through the game and play the story and side missions and you might want to try it again later but most likely you put in your  50 to 70 plus hours in and then you are done. Wild Arms is worth the $6 on PlayStation Network. Time to experience a lost gem, Wild Arms needs to be a RPG you own!
