Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1 | July 27, 2013
PlayStation Exclusive Title

There are a lot of really good games that are exclusive to PlayStation Network from smaller indie developers. We did get a collection from “thatgamecompany” with Journey, Flow and Flower and it is worth a buy. The Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1 does imply that more will be coming and we hope that it is true. This collection has four games and each is different from the others and surprising all four are really good. It does not matter what type of gamer you are you will find something here that you will want to play over and over. The PlayStation 3 may have had a bad start and a not so good middle part of the console cycle but the system is going to have a great ending.

The two great games are Sound Shapes and When Vikings Attack. Sound shapes mixes together 2D platforming and a music creating game perfectly. The game gives you 20 levels to play but this is a create your own level type of game so you could download hundreds of different levels if not more as long as people keep making and uploading their creations. The game is so much fun and the mix of music combined with the platforming is something that you have to experience and it does not matter what type of games you play.

When Vikings Attack is such a simple brilliant game that we need more games like it. You play as a group of villagers that are trying to fight off Vikings that have come to raid your town. The only way to defeat them is to pick up anything that you can find and throw it them. This game made us laugh from the opening start screen. The gameplay is fun and funny, the story is filled with humor and the cut scenes have a 1950’s duck and cover theme to them. When Vikings Attack is filled with a high replay value, simple controls and lots of different engaging boss battles at the end of each level like old school arcade games. We did not want to stop the whole time we played the game.

In Fat Princess you can play up to 32 players in two different factions trying to rescue their princess. One of the tactics is to bring your opponents princess cake to make her heaver and harder for them to carry. You can play in a single player mode but to truly get the most out of the game you must play in multiplayer. The game has so much going on that single player is not as much fun. You get six classes to choose from, a Villager, Ranger, Warrior, Priest and Mage plus you can buy a Ninja, Pirate and a Giant. Each has a different ability and all are about equal during gameplay. The last game is Tokyo Jungle. Here the human race is gone and the streets of Tokyo are filled with animals. The game has a survival mode where the objective is to stay alive as long as possible and a story mode where you get to find out what happen to the human race. With over 50 animals to choose there is a lot of hours here but the game at times got a little repetitive. We want collections like this from all the major consoles systems and game series (we are talking to you Konami, Castlevania collection PLEASE!) Keep your price under $40.00 is perfect but if you don’t want to spend that much find the money to buy Sound Shapes and When Vikings Attack. Both games really got something there.
