The story behind Murdered Soul Suspect is very good. You are a spirit traveling through the town and you can walk through walls, tables, beds anything you can think of. But, some areas have been consecrated by witches of the past making it impossible for any spirit to pass through. There are also portals to hell on the ground that you also can not cross. This means you have to find a way to bring a person over to you and take over their body to get past these areas. There are demons floating around and you can only defeat them by sneaking up on them, if they see you, you can’t just run you have to jump into spirit fragments that remain across the landscape of old ghosts to hide in. It is very different in a good way and it is one of the very few bright spots in the game.

Yes the story and idea is really good but everything else just does not work. The game tries to be methodical but it drifts into being slow and boring with nothing going on for large sections of the game. Possessing people could have been something awesome but does not add anything to the game it just feels like busy work most of the time. There is no real combat and battling demons have terrible buttons and controller issues all game long. The combinations you need to hit to destroy the demons are not clear and it makes you want to quit playing. The game makes you asks question during dialog when they could just have had a conversation like normal people, once again it just feels like pointless busy work. The entire game is slow going and makes you do the same thing over and over. Even the side missions are that way and the game is only about 7 hours long the first time through. We even had frame rate problems at the same spots. Murdered Soul Suspect is not fun or scary at all and has no replay value. It is a sad waste of a great storyline, a good idea and great voice acting but that is not enough to make it worth paying more than $10.00
