The Last of Us Review | July 17, 2013
PlayStation Exclusive Title

Picture
As far as we are concerned Naughty Dog has elite status because of games like Jak and Dexter and the Uncharted series as part of their video game development history. Their games so far have all been exclusive to Sony making it one of the best arguments to buy a PlayStation. Now they are introducing us to a new game The Last of Us. This highly anticipated title could be their best game series yet. With it being released during the summer when there are not many good games (or games at all) available The Last of Us delivers in every possible way and will make you remember why we have all chosen to be gamers. Naughty Dog has created something great and we look forward to more games and storylines from The Last of Us.

The Last of Us centers on Joel a man who is trying to get a girl named Ellie to a resistance group call the Fireflies. There has been an infection that has destroyed humanity and the survivors are just as afraid of the living as they are of the infected creatures all over the place. It was supposed to be a simple drop off to a quarantine zone but the two end up traveling across the country to find the last remaining Fireflies stronghold. This 3rd person action game is equal parts shooter, stealth and hand to hand combat with a mix or a survival horror elements. You can play the game any way you want. You could sneak around and almost not use a single shot or you could charge through the whole game shooting at everything. There is this sense of paranoia during the entire time you are playing. You never know when a bandit or an infected person will try to take you down. It keeps your focused and on what is going on because you never feel safe not even during cut scenes.

Everything in this game is excellent. The storyline is supported by stellar voice acting, great visuals and a very satisfying gameplay. The games level design makes playing easy. You never get lost or feel like you don’t know where to go and at no time do you ever want to put down the controller. This is the type of game you call into work sick and just keep playing it all day. This is one of the best games to ever to be put out for the PS3 and there is no way that it does not get several sequels, so get on board now. It feels like you are playing a 20 hour interactive movie. We love the dialog between Ellie and Joel during while you are playing. Joel was a good man but not anymore, now he will not take lip from nobody but he can’t do anything when it comes to Ellie’s smart mouth and the hope she has to find a cure to the infection.

The Last of Us is great from start to finish. We can’t find anything bad to say. There is a huge amount of replay value and even after we were done we wanted to start all over again. Even the music has this acoustic sound to everything because the world in The Last of Us has very little electricity so music has to be made the old fashion way. The Last of Us shows off the power and the brilliance of what gaming can be if developers want it to be that way. It is easily worth a new game price of $60.00 but you will find it on sale all of the time. If you find it Under $20.00 it is a MUST BUY PRICE!
