Ratchet & Clank Into The Nexus Review | January 27. 2014
PlayStation Exclusive Title

Ratchet and Clank has made great game after great game. The first games on the PS2 as an exclusive is one of the reasons that console has been so successful. With great writing and characters that are much deeper than most others in their line of gaming, it is not hard to figure out why the series has been so loved for over 10 years and has 14 games come out including this one. Once more Ratchet and Clank makes us laugh and we want to keep playing but this game one giant flaw… it is extremely short when it comes to how long the game is from start to finish. Into the Nexus starts out with Ratchet and Clank on a spaceship escorting a prisoner named Vendra Prog to a detention center where she will spend the rest of her life for attacking Pollyx Industries and kidnapping the companies CEO.  On the way there her twin brother Neftin Prog breaks her out and leaves Ratchet and Clank stranded in space.

Ratchet and Clank has all of the right parts doing all of the right things. The controls are flawless all the way through, there are never any camera issues and the gameplay is in-depth and mixes things up a lot. There are many parts of the game that make you laugh and you still feel for what Ratchet and Clank have to go through to save us all. The mix of weapons and gadget power ups keeps you interest and adding in the anti-gravity elements, rocket boot and flying makes you want to explore and keep playing. The story is funny, the voice acting is great but the ending is a little abrupt.

With all of these great things we have to say about the game why didn’t it score higher? The answer is you can beat the game in just 5 hours. You could speed run through the whole game in less than 3 hours or even closer to 2 hours. There are not a lot of planets to explore and even doing all of the extra stuff you could get a 100% completion rate in about 7 hours. The game feels a little rushed, like they wanted to do one more game on the PlayStation 3 before they start on the next game in the series for the PlayStation 4. Sadly this also means that there is almost no replay value since you can do everything so quickly. You want to keep your price under $20.00. The game is not bad, it is actually really good but there just needs to be more of it and we felt a little disappointed that we did not get more ever though Into the Nexus is priced much cheaper from the start than most other new games.
