We know that rhythm games have had some major changes with the introduction of the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation Move and Microsoft's Kinect. Even though most rhythm games are more interactive that does not mean that they are more fun. Take into account Space Channel 5 Part 2 which was an exclusive title to the Sega Dreamcast back in 2002. The games art style is a mix of Sci-fi with 1960’s fashion and a really over the top funny storyline. With all of these different elements together you would think that the game would be a hot mess but everything works and will make you laugh.

Nothing like trying to hit right sequences of moves on time to prove to yourself that you lack rhythm. You are a television reporter named Ulala who is the only one able to save the world for the evil Rhythm Rogues. The only way to save all of humanity is to out dance them (and why would it be any other way).  The game is an HD version of the Sega Dreamcast game that has costumes and items to unlock and has a longer campaign than previous version. The fact is that the game is still fun regardless if you have never played it before or if you have played it when it first came out. It is one of those games that are just as much fun watching someone play as it is to play. Many of the scenes are funny and have a bit of a Austin Powers musical montage to them. You find yourself laughing at some of the stupid things that some of your opponents are doing.

The only real complaints are that there are many times in the game where you can’t make out what they are saying. When this happens you don’t know what movement you are supposed to do, so you just have to guess or use the trial and error method. The second is that the game starts to get crazy difficult and we mean difficult. If you have defeated the final bosses of Beyond Good and Evil, God of War in the highest difficulty or understand what the term “Nintendo Hard” means then you know that you are in for a huge challenge. The Sega Dreamcast is still look upon with fond memories. Even though many gamers never had one, we do still play many of the games that got their start on that system. The good news is that you can get this game for $5.00 PSN and Xbox Live, plus the game goes on sale a lot for around $2.00. The game is funny, entertaining, and at times will frustrate you because it is so tough sometimes.
