The amount of quarter that were spent and the number of Nintendo Entertainment Systems that were sold all because of Mario and Luigi is how many of us were introduced into the video game world. Super Mario Bros. was released for the first time in 1983 in Japan and there is still a demand to be able to buy the game. This classic game has the original eight worlds to play through each having four levels. This game is currently still available through Nintendo’s Virtual Console but if you are lucky enough you can find it as part of the Mario All-Star collection for your Wii or your Super Nintendo. Each version is slightly different when it comes to graphics but the overall gameplay is exactly the same. All the warp pipes are is the same places so you can speed run and even the same patterns you may have used back in the day.

It is hard to say anything bad about a game that gave many of us a reason to be good because we wanted to get this game for Christmas. We forgot that you can’t play as Luigi unless you are in two player mode and we forgot on how slow the controls are when you are trying to stop and not run right into a turtle. It will still drive you nuts that when you have flower power and you get hit you go all the way back to little Mario and if you are little Mario and you get a flower you only get to increase to big Mario.

The game is $5 and that seems a little bit high even for us and we are all lifelong gamers who spent many of a childhood days playing this game but it is worth it. You are kind of stuck with the price. This game almost never goes on sale, as a matter a fact none of us could even remember seeing this game get a discount. Super Mario Bros. is exactly like you remember it and if for some reason if it gets a price under $3 it is a must buy just to remember the good old days or experience the roots of the series for the first time. If you are a lifelong gamer we did find the answer to the jumping of the flag pole question to that has been around almost as long as this game has been. Just look to the right of this review.
