Tomb Raider Legend | December 1, 2016
Xbox, Windows, PlayStation, Nintendo

Picture
Tomb Raider Legend is an action adventure third person shooter and it was released in 2006 to celebrate the 10 year Anniversary of the Tomb Raider series. It is not like current modern day third person shooters where the camera is over the shoulder. The camera is directly behind Lara but there is a over the shoulder aiming mode but you cannot move around, you can only aim and shoot. This is how these type of shooters where. It is in the same style as Tomb Raider Anniversary and Tomb Raider Underworld and Legend is the first reboot of the series. If you played Tomb Raider The Last Revelation then you understand why the series needed to be restarted. Lara Croft is struggling with memories of her past. Her current explorations bring both past conflicts back into her life. We were happy to see this story change and directional change for the Tomb Raider series.

Tomb Raider Legend is more realistic as far as character development and overall look. Lara has a team of people that explore the world with her as she is tries to figure out how her current mission is linked to how her mother died when she was a child. For a game that was released in 2006 as a Xbox and PlayStation 2 title it looks really good in HD. The story and plot have some depth to it and the voice acting is pretty top notch. The platforming is excellent, we had no issues. If you missed a jump it was because of something we were doing wrong and not the game. The aiming is a little bit off but not so much you want to quit. We enjoyed the boss battles but one of them we had no idea how to defeat it.

Tomb Raider Legends has 8 levels to play and each has strong differences. One takes place in Japan at a fancy party, one takes place in beautiful water filled Peru and of course tons of ruins and tombs. It took us under 7 hours to get through with a 100% completion rated and the replay level is just average. Once play it there is not much to do afterwards. Gone or the flirty double entendre one liners. It is replaced with a deeper story, good platforming and captivating puzzles. There are also some cool motorcycle chase scenes and really great boss battles but after you beat the game and figure everything out you could also get through it between 2 of 3 hours.  Tomb Raider Legends is worth buying at $9.99. We had a lot of fun with it but once you’re done, you’re done. MUST BUY PRICE under $4.99.
