Mothership Zeta | January 27, 2015
Xbox, Windows, PlayStation

Mothership Zeta is the fifth and final playable DLC campaign for Fallout 3. You can play it in first or third person.  Instead of taking place in the north east area of the United States it takes place on a spaceship orbiting Earth. After receiving a radio transmission that you can’t make sense of you come across some type of alien recon ship crashed in the middle of nowhere. While investigating the ship a light from the sky shines down and beams you up to the mothership orbiting the planet. You find other abductees on the ship and you realize that the alien race has been taking people for hundreds of years. You and your new found allies have simple goals, stop the aliens and take control of the ship before they start experimenting on you again.

Mothership Zeta is easily the most fun out of the five DLC packs for Fallout 3. While most of the other content have this dreary feeling to them that life is just a struggle, Mothership Zeta has this underlining 1950’s Mars Attack look to everything. It is still serious and dramatic but you can’t help but laugh at the little gray aliens talking to each other in a language you can’t understand and yelling at you while charging in to attack. Most of the other fellow prisoners on the ship are from hundreds of years apart in time. There is a samurai from feudal Japan, a Wild West gun slinger and a man who fought in the Great War all trying to figure out what is happening and if you can be trusted. You also get all new weapons and they are so awesome. They are so good we made sure we did not take any weapons or items with us when we got taken up to the ship so we could grab as much stuff as we can.

Mothership Zeta took us a over 5 hours to play through and this DLC has a very high replay value. It is just fun to play and we love the new energy based weapons that you get from the aliens. You do get to use the ship like a base after you defeat your captures. The $5 price is a good price point but this DLC pack and all DLC packs for Fallout 3 go on sale all the time. You can find this Mothership Zeta for under $3 several times a year. It is a buy even when paying full price, we just wish we could get more alien weapons. Once you use up all of the batteries none of the alien guns work anymore.
