Broken Steel Review | January 27, 2015
Xbox, Windows, PlayStation

Broken Steel is a playable DLC pack for Fallout 3. It has the same RPG combat style as Fallout 3 and you can choose to play the game in either first person or third person view. This DLC picks up after the events of the main quest in Fallout 3. “Spoiler-Spoiler-Spoiler” at the end of the game it is assumed you died but with this DLC you instead wake up after being in a coma for two weeks, unless you let the Purifier explode then that is the end of Fallout 3. Now waking up you realize that the Brotherhood of Steel has been using a giant robot named Liberty Prime to destroy what’s left of the Enclave. You are enlisted to help but will you betray them or fight by the Brotherhoods side.

Broken Steel is the third of five playable DLC packs for Fallout 3 and could be the best one and is a must have if you own the game. The best thing is that it increases your level cap from level 20 to level 30. Us RPG gamers always want to collect experience point and max all of our stats but in Fallout 3 you could only get to level 20. You still can’t max out your character but getting to level 30 does help a lot and we were able to get almost all of the power ups we wanted. Broken Steel also gives you some new weapons and our favorite weapon in the game the Tesla Cannon. This new weapon will come in handy when you face the new Super Mutant Overlords that are wondering around.

Broken Steel took us a little almost 7 hours to do the newly extended main storyline, the extra side missions and find all of the Super Mutant Overloads to battle. This is a must own if you have Fallout 3 and could be the best DLC pack (Mother Ship Zeta is also really good). Replay value is really high. You might want to create a new save point. Battling side by side with the Liberty Prime Robot is really fun and worth replaying and taking on the Super Mutants on different challenge levels is also worth the time. Broken Steel is money well  spent at $5 but as with all things that are Fallout 3 related this DLC pack goes on sale all of the time even as cheap as $3 or less. Buy you will love it!
