Dead Space 2 Severed | March 7, 2016
Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 3

Severed is a DLC playable campaign that requires you to have Dead Space 2 to play. It is a 3rd person survival horror shooter in the exact same style as Dead Space 2. Severed is set three years after Dead Space Extraction and takes place as a parallel storyline to Isaac Clarke’s early time on Titan on Dead Space 2. Remember when Isaac wakes up on Titan Moon the Necromorph had already taken over the station. Gabe Weller is the only member of a security team that survived the first wave of Necromorph pouring out of the mines early on in Dead Space 2. The only thing that matters to him is trying to get to his wife in the medical bay and escape. Nothing else matters to him but his family.

Severed is a very good DLC pack that complements Dead Space 2 well. Obviously Isaac and the people he interacts with are not the only people left on Titan Moon. This DLC returns the game to it roots. You start off deep underground and as you are exploring the uncomfortable feeling of being trapped is always a factor. You are stuck in close quarters with very little room to move around for most of the game. The story is also very strong. Gabe and his wife Lexine are just people trying to survive. They have no association to Isaac Clark and have no connection or conflict with the Unitology. This is the starting point for the story and as you move forward you will not be disappointed.

It takes only about 2 hours to get through the whole DLC and that is low on gameplay. After you go through once on your nest try you can get from start to finish in a little over an hour. It has great controls and aiming we had no issues. The camera is perfect and it takes some real big chances that pay off forcing you to have to shoot at different angles because of what is happening in the station as it starts to fall apart. The voice acting is great as you start to hear the fear of everybody because they don’t know what is going on. There is a hidden Peng and some replay value. You get to keep you upgrades when you replay and like we said the story is really good. The $6.99 price is a bit too high for such a short amount to gameplay. PlayStation and Xbox gamers for the most part you are stuck with it because it almost never goes on sale. PC games will have better luck. $5 is a better price and if you find it under $3 it is easily a MUST BUY PRICE!
