Dead Space Review | October 17, 2013
Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 3

Picture
Dead Space is a third person survival horror shooter. It is in the same style as Gears of War and Resident Evil 5. The planet cracking space ship USG Ishimura sends out a distress single shortly after the ship’s crew starts an mining operation on a distant planet. You play as engineer Isaac Clarke who is there to help repair and salvage the Ishimura planet cracking ship but his is also there for a very personal reasons. Isaac girlfriend Nicole Brennan is the medical officer on the Ishimura a job that Isaac encouraged her to take. She was able to send out a person message to Isaac before communications went down and he does not know if she is alive.

If you are not the type that usually plays 3rd person M rated shooters and you were looking to try one “THIS IS THE GAME”! We mean wow everything about this game works. The gameplay pulls you in, there is this sense of enemies coming at you from every angle and you feel like the walls are looking at you. The storyline and plot are so engaging we want to tell you everything but we don’t want to spoil anything. The voice acting is great which is odd because the character you play has no lines, that’s right the whole story is based around Isaac and he does not say a single thing. The controls, camera and aiming are so good that all game developers should model all 3rd person shooters after Dead Space. We never wanted to stop playing and even if we kept failing over and over we want to try again. This game will scare you even on replay.

Dead Space has sections where you are floating around in zero gravity and the best part is the camera self-adjusts and the angle makes sense even though you may be standing on the ceiling. The camera is so important in this game because it takes place in a lot of close quarters where there is not a lot of room to move around. Even the inventory menu and the maps are cool but it all takes place in real time. So if you are looking for a health pack you can still be attacked. The first time through the game took us 15 hours and the replay is as high as a game can be. Even if you have played it from start to finish four times there will be a fifth. Everyone should own and play this game, It is that good! Price here is not important you need to experience Dead Space.
