LEGO Star Wars III Review | July 21, 2016

Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars is an action 3D platformer with some third person shooting elements. You can play in single player or multiplayer modes. It takes place between Episode 2 and 3 and covers the first two seasons of the Clone Wars animated TV series. It plays the exactly the same way as the previous Lego Star Wars games and other Lego franchised based games. The war between The Republic and the Empire is at its peak. The Empire generals are waging war on several fronts and their Droid army manufacturing is at full strength. Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Anakin’s Padawan Ahsoka Tano lead the clones and the Jedi against Count Dooku and his Droids.

Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars has three storylines for you to adventure through and you can jump between them as much as you want but we recommend playing them each individually from beginning to end to get more out of the storyline. Count Dooku, General Grievous and Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress are waging war across the galaxy. They are invading planets, attacking Republic out post and allies and attempting to recruit other neutral planets either by force or by threatening them out right. The gameplay is all based around the war. You get vehicles early on as you travel to planets and join battle against the droid army. You do a lot of destroying and very little building on the battlefield. It is fun but you are just doing the same things a lot, destroy a shield generator, destroy a droid base and then destroy another shield generator.

You do spend a lot of time in space battles also. For the most part the ships fly pretty well and the levels themselves are fun but at moments the controls and camera are awkward. It’s because the space ship battles take place in a 3D environment but you have to use a 2D control and camera scheme to navigate through them. You fly into stuff accidentally because you can’t see where you are going. Then at times you have to land on or inside a Trade Federation Battleship let’s say but you still have the same problems. Not sure where to land on the ship or how to get there. Minor issues but constant.

It took us about 10 hours to get through the game and the replay is just average, mostly because it is really repetitive. There is extra stuff like in all Lego games but you just don’t want to put in the time. Each time we unlocked a new character it turned out to be just another storm trooper. The game looks great and besides minor flying issues the controls and camera are OK. There is no voice acting and it is not as funny as other Lego games. This could be because it is designed for a younger audience just like the animated series is but you do get to use the force in a lot of different ways.  Lego Star Wars III The Clone wars is world paying $30.00 for and if you find it under $10.00 it is a MUST BUY PRICE!
