Bioshock 2 Review | October 27, 2011
Xbox 360, Windows, PlayStation 3

The first Bioshock game was one of the most brilliant things that we have ever played. So how do you make a game that good even better? Take the thing that stands out the most and by that of course, we mean the Big Daddy's and let the player play as one of them. In Bioshock 2 you are the Big Daddy. This game puts you back in the underwater city of Rapture in 1968 eight years after the first Bioshock. You name is subject Delta, named that because you were the fourth Big Daddy created. You are brought back to life because someone has started creating Little Sisters once more. The person behind all of this is named Sofia Lamb and Tenenbaum the creator of the science behind the plasmids and Adam has returned to stop her life’s work from once again being used for evil purposes. Tenebaum was the one who help Jack from the first Bioshock rescue and free the Little Sisters. You are not the only powerhouse, Rapture now has Big Sisters trying to stop you, another creation of Sofia as strong as you.

We are always worry about a sequel to a great video game. For the most part the video game industry is really good at raising the bar. For every Devil May Cry 2 (This game was a horrible disaster compared to Devil May Cry) there is a Mass Effect 2, Batman Arkham City, or Portal 2 which were all as good or better than their predecessors. BioShock 2 is another example of a great sequel living up to the expectations. Yes once again you are in Rapture but it is a whole new Rapture. You are in a different part of the city that the first Bioshock did not explore. It has the same uncomfortable feeling of that bad things have happened and bad things are about to happen one more time.

The major change in combat besides you are now a Bid Daddy is that you can duel wield both your plasmids and your weapons at the same time. No more jumping from one to the other. Just click the left button for plasmids and click the right for shooting or melee. We don’t know how we ever live without it. Being able to use both at the same time speeds up the combat and really makes it more fun. We enjoyed shocking our enemies and then attacking them the most. Bioshock has not made any mistakes so far. Bioshock 2 took us 15 to 17 to play the main story and is a game you will want to replay over and over again on different skill levels. We started playing the game again right after we beat it for the first time. Spend the money it is worth it and it goes on sale all the time.
