Bioshock Triple Pack Review | March 27, 2016
Windows, Steam

Picture
Bioshock Triple Pack is a survival horror first person shooter. As far as we know you can only buy this Bioshock collection as a PC digital download We have not seen a physical copy of the game anywhere so far or on PlayStation Network or Xbox Live. The first two games take place in an underwater city called Rapture during the Cold War. In 1946 a man named Andrew Ryan wanted to escape the conflict between Capitalism and Communism. In 1951 the city was finished and people rushed to make Rapture their new home. One of the creations under Andrew Ryan’s direction was the production of Adam that creates plasmids a type of super power that rewrites a person’s DNA and allows them to shoot fireballs to name an example. Adam can only be produced by Little Sisters and to get to them you must defeat the Big Daddys and that is not easy.

In 1960 a man named Jack is the only survivor of a plane crash in the Ocean. He finds a tower that leads to Rapture and clearly something went seriously with Andrew Ryan’s vision of Utopia. So much of the population is dead and what very few that are left have lost their minds and are holdup in small factions or stalking each other. The Adam is the key, with all of the remaining citizens trying to kill each other the more powers you need means more Adam. But, do you harvest (Bad Choice) the Adam from the Little Sisters of do you set them free (Good Choice). Either way Rapture is a mess, the Big Daddys are not going to give up easily and your only choice is to find Andrew Ryan and escape.

Eight year later in 1968 is where Bioshock 2 drops you and this time you are The Big Daddy. The giant powerful juggernaut and all of his weapons and tool are now yours. Someone has restarted the Adam program and is making Little Sisters again. You are Delta an early model Big Daddy that was forced to take your own life because a mind control plasmid. You were killed in 1958 and you have been dead for 10 years. Why has Delta been brought back and why now? It has been so long since the first Bioshock someone has developed new muscle. There are now Big Sisters running around Rapture trying to stop you. Since you are now a Big Daddy the safety of the Little Sisters is your responsibility. Who is doing all of this anyway? How did they learn to make Adam again.

Bioshock Infinite is completely different in story and characters but not gameplay, it is still a first person shooter. You are Booker DeWitt in 1912 decades before Rapture and the first two games. You are hired to find a woman named Elizabeth. She is somewhere in a floating steampunk city of Columbia that has seceded from the United States. There is no explanation why they want Elizabeth but she is clearly not just an ordinary girl she can make tears in time and is locked in a tower.  Booker is given simple instructions, “Bring us the girl and wipe away your debt”. There are also two twins that show up all the time and they know things that they should not know.

All three games have extremely high replay value, all three games have no real game mechanic issues and all three games are incredibly fun and difficult to put down once you start playing them. All three games take about 12 to 15 hours to get through and that is about how long each time. No complaints here and outstanding collection easily worth paying $70 for and Bioshock Triple Pack goes on sale several times a year for under $20. Any dollar amount at or under $30 dollars is a MUST BUY PRICE!
