Minecraft Adventure Pass DLC Review | January 7, 2017
Xbox, Windows, PlayStation, Nintendo

Minecraft Adventure Mode is a four part episodic point and click graphic adventure game. It is in the same style as The Wolf Among Us and Minecraft Story Mode. If you bought Story Mode then you know episode five is the first episode in a new four part series or the first chapter of the new Adventure Mode story. Jessie and his group are now the members of the Order of the Stone. They are exploring new areas and finding treasures that many would only dream of. One myth comes to light when a magical Flint & Steel is discovered that opens portals to worlds that most only believed to be rumors. But, many of these secret portals bring the Order of the Stone face to face with new lands, new treasures and in some case new dangers and people.

Minecraft Adventure Mode has the four episodes just like Story Mode but the episodes are not as closely connected in this game. The overall underlining plots is the same, find the portal that takes them home and discover the origins of the magical Old Builders myth but each section kind of stands on its own.  This is not necessarily a bad thing because each new portal you discover and the underlining story is drastically different. One takes place in classic movie “Who Done It” setting where you are trapped in a giant mansion and people are dying and you need to put the clues together to figure out who the killer is. One takes place in a world where a computer has enslaved all of the people and now it is after you, just to name two examples of how different each chapter is.

Minecraft Adventure Mode took us only 6 to 7 hours to get through and the replay value is pretty low. The choices in this game are not as important as they are in other games from TellTale. The choices don’t even seem to matter at all and it is also has a much slower pace. A slow speed is fine if faster moving areas are also included but Adventure Mode does not have a lot of quicker areas. If you picked a male version of Jesse then Patton Oswald returns as the voice and him and comic actor Brian Posehn return. The game did make us laugh, it is funny when it tries to be. Minecraft Adventure Mode is worth paying $9.99 for. Remember episode five (the first episode in Adventure Mode) comes with Story Mode so buying the Adventure Pass only gives you 6-8 If you see the entire four part series for $4.99 it is a MUST BUY PRICE!
